DELTA-8

What Is Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly known as Delta-8 THC, is a psychoactive cannabinoid found naturally in small amounts in the Cannabis sativa plant, including hemp and marijuana. Because it occurs naturally in very low concentrations, many commercial Delta-8 products are made by converting hemp-derived CBD into concentrated Delta-8 THC.

Delta-8 THC can produce intoxicating or mind-altering effects and should not be confused with non-intoxicating CBD products.

How Does Delta-8 Compare With Delta-9 THC?

Delta-8 and Delta-9 are different forms of THC with similar chemical structures. Delta-9 THC is the primary intoxicating compound commonly associated with marijuana, while Delta-8 THC can also produce psychoactive effects.

Delta-8 is often described as producing less intense effects than Delta-9, but experiences can vary depending on the product, amount used, method of consumption, and the individual. Research into its short- and long-term health effects remains limited.

Delta-8 may still cause unwanted effects such as anxiety, dizziness, confusion, vomiting, drowsiness, or loss of consciousness. Delta-8 products have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safe use.
